Junior Coaches

Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club fields a large number of junior teams in the South Eastern Junior Cricket Association Competition every year.  With over 600 children participating in In2Cricket, T20 Blast and regular competitions we are one of the largest community cricket clubs in Australia. The participation of so many teams would not be possible without the help of countless Coaches and Managers that give their time to running or organising a Junior Team for Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club. The club is extremely thankful to all Coaches and Managers and aim to make the experience of being involved in an East’s Junior Team a fun and successful one.

This page is devoted to assisting coaches and managers with information, resources and coaching support that can be used to assist you as coach of a superstar Eastern Suburbs Cricket Team. All resources on this page have been created by the club for coaches to use when planning and implementing training sessions for Junior Teams

Coaching Development

The Cricket Australia Community  (Level 1) Coaching Course will be available to all Easts Coaches on Sunday September 13.  This one day course will be run by Cricket NSW and held at Waverley Oval.  Costs for the course will be covered by the club (for all those registered and who attend on the day).

Our course is set up at http://community.cricket.com.au/coach/courses – Community Coaching Course – Eastern Suburbs.  Before you come along on the day they you are required to complete an online component as part of the course.  This is the Introduction to Cricket course.  Please go to the link below and complete the course. You must have completed this online component prior to registering otherwise you will not be able to take any further part.  Simply go to http://cca.cricket.com.au/ and register with the Cricket Coaches Australia website. Participants will then have access to the online course – see registration process attached.

A number of additional Coaching resources will available to us this year.  All Easts coaches will be provide with access to the Centrewicket training program managed and delivered by Murray Creed (One of our foremost senior coaches).   This online program is available at http://www.centrewicket.com.au  We will be providing separate login details shortly.

Training Locations

Iain Dunstan has once again volunteered to assist coaches with the allocation of training facilities.  He will be able to advise what days and times are used by Easts Teams across the various training grounds / nets available in the Eastern Suburbs.  We are fortunate that Waverley Oval now boasts some new nets for our use.  Contact Iain (dunstan4@bigpond.net.au) directly to lock in your day / time and venue so that we don’t overlap on facilities amongst our own teams.

Waverley Oval Training Days

The Junior Training on Wednesday afternoons will once again be available to each age group and we encourage all our teams to participate on their allocated days.  We have changed the format slightly from last year.  All age groups (U8, U10 Mods and Colts, U12 Div 1 and Div 2, U14 Div 2) will have additional sessions at Waverley.  The U16 and U14 Div 1 teams will be encouraged to train with senior club 4th and 5th Graders during the regular Thursday afternoon Grade Training session on their particular week.  The final session for the year will consist of the 2016 Easts Academy selections where U16 (returning for 2016 / 2017) and Under 14’s will be considered for inclusion in the next Easts Academy (July 2016).
