WBBL comes to Waverley Oval18-Oct-2019 Last Friday, Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club hosted a WBBL Trial Game at Waverley Oval. The fixture was between The Sydney Sixers and The Sydney Thunder.
The game was a great opportunity to bring high class professional women’s cricket to the east and for the local community to see some of NSW’s finest female cricketers first hand.
Club President Jim Maxwell AM was on hand to watch the game and to mingle with the players, officials and supporters.
“The club continues to promote and develop its very important Girls Cricket Programs in the local community” Jim said. “Fridays fixture was an opportunity for the club to further create awareness for the Women’s and Girls games”
Also on Friday, Jim received a cheque from local MP Gabrielle Upton from the T20 World Legacy Fund.
“We are very grateful to the State Government in providing the club much needed funds through it’s T20 World Cup Legacy Grants Programs to help us continue to provide cricket pathways and encourage participation for our girls cricketers in the Eastern Suburbs” Jim Maxwell added.
