Michael Bevan announced as new Head Coach

Easts Dolphins are proud to announce former Australian player Michael Bevan as the club’s new head coach for the 2013/14 season.

Bevan is a two-time World Cup winner with the Australian cricket team and was ranked the best ODI batsman in the world in 1997 and 1998.

Since retiring from international cricket, Bevan has spent time coaching with Tasmania, Kings XI Punjab (IPL) and Chennai Superstars (ICL).

Bevan said he was looking forward to the challenge and building a strong culture within the Dolphins.

“Taking up the Head Coaching position for Easts Cricket is a great opportunity for me to give back to the game at the grade and grass roots level,” Bevan said.

“I am looking forward to mentoring and coaching teams and players throughout the club to help increase their opportunities to achieve long term success and be part of an enjoyable club culture”.

Easts President Jim Maxwell said the appointment was a major boost for the club as it looks to rebuild for the future.

“Michael is one of the finest cricketers NSW has produced,” Maxwell said.

“He has a wealth of experience at the highest level, which I’m sure will bring great value to Eastern Suburbs cricket.”

Michael has already commenced his work behind the scenes and will be at the SCG on Wednesday evening for club training, which we urge all players to attend.

Michael will also convey his plans for the coming season at Wednesday evening’s Player Information Seminar at the SCG Auditorium at 7.30pm. Here the remainder of the coaching staff that will support Michael this season will also be announced.

Up the Dolphins!
