Ian Moran notches 10,000 runs as Easts beat St George

It’s been an incredible start to the season for Easts all-rounder Ian Moran and it’s now been capped with an achievement that will ensure his career of achievements is remembered for years to come.

Moran passed 10,000 runs in First Grade and is just the fifth player to do so with more than 300 wickets. To celebrate the milestone, Moran smashed an unbeaten 113 to help guide Easts to a comprehensive victory over St George.

The 35-year-old has had a prolific start to the season in all formats, hitting two centuries and three half-centuries out of his eight innings so far.

"I was bit nervous leading up to it," Moran said

"It’s an achievement I’m proud to have and certainly a significant one."

"My brother actually pointed out to me before the start of the season that I needed less than 200 to reach it, so I was hoping to get it early, but probably didn’t expect it to come this quickly."

Easts resumed day two against St George at 2-141, needing only a further 31 runs for first innings points.

Moran and Peter Lazarus eased the Dolphins passed the target with the latter disappointed to fall just 13 runs short of a maiden First Grade century.

Easts batted on and declared at 3-290 with Greg Clarence getting some handy time in the middle in his first game of the season with an unbeaten 40.

Lightning and rain brought an early end to the day with St George 1-43 in their second innings, but the victory pushed Easts up to third on the ladder.
