Fourth Grade PREMIERS for 2013/14
07-Apr-2014Easts Dolphins have been crowned Premiers for 2013/14 after the rain-marred Grand Final ended in a draw.
Manly batted well on the opening day to post 8dec-331, but only 20 overs were bowled on Sunday as Easts reached 2-75.
The Dolphins won the cup by virtue of being the higher ranked team, heading into the match.
David Dunne was the pick of the bowlers for Easts, taking 3-48 off 20 overs, while Matt Tupper (2-49) and Tim Brown (2-68) took two wickets each.
In a short session before stumps on day one Easts were 1-44, before the showers arrived on day two.
Sam Pointer top scored in Easts’ short innings with 25, while Jack Remond (23*) and Prinya Kham (13*) both blunted the attack effectively.
It's the first lower grade premiership Easts have won since Rino Tomasiello lifted the same trophy in the 1998/99 season.
