Easts Dolphins to host West Indies at Waverley Oval in World Cup build-up

Easts Dolphins are set to welcome West Indies to Waverley Oval in the build-up to the World Cup.

The newly developed Waverley Oval will host its first international cricket team with West Indies choosing the facility as a training base.

From February 2-6, West Indies will train at the ground, providing both senior and junior players with the opportunity to get involved and get up close with some of the game's biggest stars.

Easts President Jim Maxwell says the trip is already causing much excitement within the club.

"It's terrific that our club can play a part in the game's showpiece event," Maxwell said.

"We have a terrific facility here at Waverley Oval and to be able to showcase that to the community and West Indies is a wonderful opportunity."

"I'm sure our players, members and sponsors are all looking forward to getting involved in the week."

Easts will host West Indies at a dinner function during the week, with dates and times to be confirmed.
