On Sunday 23 August life members Bob Horsell, Dennis and David Hourn and long-time member Ron Boucher met up with club legend Greg Besomo at the Cronulla RSL for lunch, a few beers and to reminisce about their time with Greg at the club.

Unfortunately Greg, also a life member, is facing a few health issues of late but was overjoyed to meet up with his fellow members and past players.  The get together was organised by Greg's brother in law Harold Donald, himself a former member of the club's management committee and club sponsor.

Greg had an impressive record with Easts.  In a career which spanned 22 years from 1961 to 1983 Greg scored 5,971 runs and took 163 wickets for the club.  He was also a brilliant field.  Greg had a commanding presence at the crease and was a very hard hitter of the ball, hitting some monster sixes at grounds all around Sydney.  He debuted in first grade at the age of 17, scoring a very credible 40 and played mainly first and second grade during his career.

Perhaps Greg's major achievement with Easts, which would be the envy of many a club man, is that he was a member of four premiership winning teams – Green Shield 1964 (when he scored a blistering 132); second grade 1969, first grade 1976 and second grade 1981 (as  captain).

The club wishes Greg all the best for the future and hopefully we will see him at the Oval in the coming season.
